Most extended health insurance plans cover a portion or all of the cost of psychotherapy and counselling. Please verify your health insurance coverage before you arrange your first visit. If you do not have benefits and are paying for counselling out of pocket, you can submit your receipts during tax season under the Medical Expense Tax Credit.

We do not offer direct billing to insurance providers, should you wish to claim your session fee with an extended health provider, you will receive a receipt upon payment with all the required information to do so.

We require 24 hours notice for cancellations or the full fee will be charged.

Psychiatrists are medical doctors who are able to prescribe medication related to mental health. Psychologists study human behaviour and are able to provide formal assessments. Psychotherapists use techniques they are trained in to support mental health – this is commonly referred to as “talk therapy”. Here’s where it gets confusing – psychotherapy or “talk therapy” – can also be a process that psychiatrists and psychologists use in the course of their treatments. The difference amongst the three professions – is in the focus. Psychiatrists focus on medication management. Psychologists focus on human behaviour and assessments. Psychotherapists focus on “talk therapy”.
